Save the Murals
Save the Murals – April 23, 2013
Seattle Public Schools, with the passage of a capital levy, plans to tear down Wilson-Pacific and replace it with two new schools. During the levy campaign, a number of people urged the district to renovate Wilson-Pacific rather than replace it, and to revitalize the Indian Heritage program, which has dwindled in size and also has an uncertain future. The program’s supporters wanted the murals saved, too.
We will have large ‘Idle No More’ lighted letters and spot light to shine on the mural for a photo session and a short rally to preserve the murals.
“If these walls shall fall I want the people to know that these murals meant something. They were a labor of love for our children. They represent a safe place…this is a place of learning…FREEDOM!”
